This is about my home Elo ratings system

Elo ratings are a way to measure the relative strength of teams by turning match results into a single number. A higher rating means a stronger team. After each game, the winner gains points and the loser loses points, with the size of the change depending on how surprising the result was. Beating a much stronger team gives a bigger boost than beating a weaker one, while a draw can raise or lower ratings depending on the pre-match expectation.

For football prediction, Elo ratings can be used to estimate the chance of each outcome before a match. If Team A has a much higher Elo rating than Team B, Team A is expected to win more often. The rating difference can be converted into probabilities for home win, draw, and away win. Analysts often improve the basic model by adding a home advantage, recent form, goal difference, or competition-specific adjustments.

Elo is useful because it is simple, updates after every match, and reflects team strength over time. It does not guarantee exact results, but it gives a solid baseline for predicting football outcomes and comparing teams consistently.
